Commenting on Another Student's Blog

The comment I left on Andrew's presentation is as follows here:

This was a great presentation. I appreciate the way you covered Nachtwey's career and significant events during his career to show the dangerous situations he would be in while covering conflicts as they unraveled. Your presentation effectively provides support for why each of Natchwey's photos fall under the Ethically Evaluative category, alongside strong descriptions of important composition and lighting choices that strengthen the message his photos are conveying. His photographs allow me to see the consequences that conflict has in the large scale, with the photo of the aftermath of the World Trade Center, and at the individual level, with he photos of the scarred man and the mourning woman.

Alex Korwek:

Your video about Garry Winogrand was an interesting watch! It was amazing to see how much detail and clarity he was able to maintain while primarily shooting in black and white in environments where he did not necessarily have control over the lighting. His work really makes you feel as though you're in the moment with the people in the photographs. The only criticism I have for this presentation is that it might have been a good idea to cut something small out to put your video under four minutes. Other than that, it's excellent!
