I think the best image I took for this assignment is this one of my takoyaki from Tastea:

I think this is my most successful image because it does its job as a descriptive photograph. It shows viewers what the takoyaki looks like once it's fresh out the kitchen. It also shows viewers that a stick is included for them to eat with. Additionally, my photograph makes me hungry every time I look at it.
I would say that the most challenging aspect of this assignment was figuring out which category a photograph falls into. I took plenty of other photographs for this assignment, but couldn't seem to figure out which category most of them fell under. I ended up choosing the ones that I could strongly tie to a specific category.
In the future, I think I will create stronger images by proactively thinking about what photographic category I'm attempting to aim for before I take a photo. I feel like this would help me determine what type of composition and lighting would best fit this category. Afterwards, I can add additional edits to my photos to further push the category I would want my photo to be classified as.
You can find the photos I chose for this assignment here.

The comment I left on Jordan's blog post is:
This is a nice photograph, I like how you were able to capture how good the cookies looked while using the core ingredients to explain to viewers that the recipe for this doesn't require too many ingredients or meticulous measurements. There isn't much I would say could be done to improve this, maybe you could experiment with different lighting styles or different aspect ratios, but this was very well done!

Hi Daniel! Your photograph of takoyaki is well-executed, with good lighting, sharp focus, and interesting subject matter. The descriptive photo shows all the ingredients involved in the dish, and if this photo were to be on a menu or social media post, prospective customers would know exactly what to anticipate if they chose to order it. I also like your intentional inclusion of the stick used to eat the takoyaki, as it imbues the image with an even great amount of descriptive detail.
Hi! I really like this photo as well. Your photograph of the fresh takoyaki really stands out in this project. Its success as a descriptive photograph lies in its ability to convey both the appearance of the food and the practical aspect of how it's meant to be eaten, with the inclusion of the stick. By providing viewers with a clear visual of the freshly cooked takoyaki and the utensil accompanying it, you're effectively communicating not only what they can expect in terms of presentation but also how they can engage with the dish.
Hi Daniel, this is a really nice image and I like how you were able to directly connect it to the descriptive category. If I had seen this photograph before this assignment, I don't think I would have even realized that it can be categorized as such. I also like how you purposefully included the stick to further describe this food and how it's meant to be eaten. In terms of improvement, I don't have much to add, but it could be interesting to see how this same image might have turned out with different angles. Nice job!
